Sophie F. Leidy Obituary (1918 - 2009) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

LEIDY Sophie F. (nee Feather), died peacefully on September 1, 2009, at the age of 90 after a brief illness. Sophie was born on October 1, 1918 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Augustus and Sophia Feather. Beloved wife of the late William D. Leidy. Loving mother of Linda Leidy Huston (Charles) and proud grandmother of Sarah and Laura. She is also survived by two of her four brothers Augustus S. Feather, Jr. and Albert E. Feather, Sr.; sister-in-laws, Edith Feather, Lila Feather and Willda Hoogerwerff; cousins, nieces and nephews. Sophie was a long time resident of Philadelphia and was a graduate of Roxborough High School. She was a member of Christian Endeavor and Macalester Torresdale Presbyterian Church where she served as Sunday school teacher; former director of Bible school, Cherub Choir and Pageants; Senior Choir member; Deborah Circle leader and member and more. Sophie dedicated her life to her Lord, her family and friends. She had a generous, caring spirit and ministered to all those around her. She will be greatly missed by both family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Sophie's Life Celebration and Memorial service at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 3rd, at Macalester Torresdale Presbyterian, 3665 E Crown Ave, Philadelphia, PAa. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations in her name be made to either of the organizations listed below. Habitat for Humanity of Chester County, 1853 E Lincoln Hwy., Coatesville, PA 19320 (www.hfhcc.org) (funds will be used to assist in the work of providing simple, decent, affordable housing for God's people in need within Chester County).
