Ruth (Hanowitz) Zimmerman Obituary (1922 - 2018)

Zimmerman, Ruth (nee Hanowitz) April 18, 2018. Age 96. Beloved daughter of Abraham and Frances Hanowitz. Loving Mother of Gary (Joann) Zimmerman, and the late Lana Ernest (Zimmerman). Loving Grandmother to Glen Zimmerman and Douglas (Maulissa) Braverman. Ruth is predeceased by her brother Stan (Terry) Hanowitz. She will fondly be remembered by her nieces and nephews, Amy, Michael, Tom, Neal, Geoffrey, and their families. Ruth was a graduate of Olney High School Class of 1939. Ruth possessed a strong sense of independence and was the first woman in her neighborhood in 1961 to work. She was employed at Gimbel Bros. (later Sterns) where she worked for many years as Credit Manager until retiring. Ruth always put her family's needs above her own, lending support and guidance, and cared for her own mother who was able to live in her home well into her 90's.
