Ruth Hansen

Ruth Mae Hansen (nee Scott), of Philadelphia, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at the age of 98.

A lifelong resident of Philadelphia, Ruth was a longtime member of The Sons of Norway, Lodge #125 and the former Trinity Lutheran Church. Ruth has been a devoted member of Faith Lutheran Church for the last several years. She was passionate about history and spent many years as a member of the Questers Club. Ruth truly enjoyed being active and socializing. In earlier years, she was a Girl Scout Leader and Den Mother. From 1974 through 2018, she volunteered as an office worker for Aid for Friends (now Caring for Friends). In her free time, she was often reading, crocheting, doing needlepoint, or playing BINGO, rummikub or pinochle with friends. Ruth even started a Pinochle Club at Lafayette Redeemer, where she resided for the last 7 years.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband, John Hansen; sisters, Edna (Pat) Zigman, Dorothy (Charles) Becker and a brother, James L. (Pearl) Scott.

Beloved mother of the late John S. Hansen (Patty) and Ruth E. (William) Powell; loving Nana of Allison (Brian) Hoey, Dianna (Justin) Cichonski, William C. (Lauren) Powell and Lauren Hansen (Kevin); great Nana of Liam, Sadie, Avery, Olivia, Scarlett, Hannah, Evelyn, Autumn, Walker and Noah. Ruth was also the dear aunt of Bonnie (late Fred) Zeirle, John (Suzanne) Anastasia, Late Charla R. Zigman, Linda (late Barney) Gillespie, Judy (Jim) Genevie, late Jimmy H. Scott, Dave Scott (Bob), Donna Wachtendorf and Bill (Cindy) Scott.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing and funeral on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at the T.J. Fluehr Funeral Home, 11010 Knights Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154, followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Interment Sunset Memorial Park.
