Roger Newton

Rev. Roger A. Newton, passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at the age of 83.
Born and raised in Vermont, Roger had formerly resided in St. Louis and Connecticut before settling in the Greater Philadelphia area in 1996.

Roger was a hardworking and spiritual man. He spent over 20 years working as a Human Resources Specialist for the Department of the United States Navy. He also dedicated many years as a Pastor of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod before his retirement.

Living life to the fullest, Roger was a diehard Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan, and there was always room for a piece of cake, or some chocolate ice cream, especially if it was a milkshake! He was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to classical and jazz music. Some of his favorite memories were made attending performances at the Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre in Lancaster, PA with his wife, Lynda.

Beloved husband of 46 years to Lynda A. (nee Lapierre); loving father of Maureen Antony (Christopher) and Joshua Newton (Christina Sabol) and cherished Pop-Pop of Kairi, Mariah, and Dominic Martinez. Roger is survived by cousin, Nancy Cameron, his mother-in-law, Doris LeClaire, sisters-in-law, Joanne Hamblett (Steve), Gale Morong (Ron) and Jan Moreau; several nieces and nephews and his grand dogs, Jethro and Turbo.

Roger was predeceased by his parents, Catherine (nee Fredette) and Charles E. Newton; his father-in-law, Lucien Lapierre and his brother-in-law, Steven Lapierre.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet his family on Friday, October 11, 2024 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the T.J. Fluehr Funeral Home, 11010 Knights Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154, followed by his Memorial Service at 4:00 PM. Interment private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Roger's memory made to the St. Peter Lutheran Church, 1608 Harbourton Rocktown Road, Lambertville, NJ 08530 would be preferred by his family.
