Robert Victor Harr

–

Johnstown, Pennsylvania

Robert Victor Harr "Bob", age 93, of Johnstown, passed away at the VA Community Living Center in Philadelphia PA on January 18, 2024.

The son of the late Edward and Nellie (nee Crum) Harr, Bob was born in Somerset PA on December 22, 1930.  He served his country proudly during World War II as a member of the U.S. Army. He enlisted at the age of 14 and served for 6 years, spending most of his service time in Germany. During his time in the Army, Bob took every opportunity to further his education. The skills that he learned during this time made him a jack of all trades that he would rely on throughout his life. Bob was a dedicated worker. After retiring from Bethlehem Steel, he kept busy as a school bus driver for several years. He believed that working and keeping busy was the key to a long and healthy life which is why he was constantly involved in various projects.

Bob was a selfless man who put the needs of his family above his own. He truly believed this is the way you show your love for people. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He never passed up an opportunity to engage others in conversation no matter what their age. Whether it was his time in the Military or growing up in a home for children, He took great joy in sharing the stories of his life experiences. His struggles and accomplishments are what made him the hard working, loyal and compassionate man that he was.  The love and dedication that he showed to those he loved will be greatly missed.

Devoted husband of 67 years to the late Helen (nee Leptich); Loving father of David (Jenine) Harr, the late Brian Harr and father-in-law of Regina "Jean" Barnes-Harr. Cherished grandfather of Chance Harr and Denver (Kayla Cole) Harr;  Dear great-grandfather of Caleb Cole.
