Nilsa Iris (Santiago) Echevarria Obituary (1954 - 2017)

Echevarria Nilsa Iris Echevarria (nee Santiago), age 62, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on July 2, 2017. Nilsa Iris Echevarria was born November 12,1954 in Yauco, Puerto Rico to Rafaela and Elizardo Santiago. Affectionately known as "Grandma" to all her family, she enjoyed playing/teaching poker and other card games, playing Scrabble, reading, fishing and sewing. She was also an avid Yankees fan. She lived in Puerto Rico, New York, Texas and most recently in Philadelphia where she was loved by many family and friends. She was passionate about her family and dedicated her entire life to caring for others both personally and professionally. "Grandma" was a caring, compassionate, intelligent and strong woman who will FOREVER be missed!!! Beloved wife of Luis E. Sr. Loving Mother of Rosalinda (Marc) Echevarria-Shuler, Luis E. (Elizabeth) Echevarria Jr., Jeannie Inez (Gabriel) Martinez, Charles Ray Echevarria and Ismael (Marisol) Echevarria. Devoted grandmother of Mari, Nito, Jonathan, Marc, Kito, Pupsie, Justin, Alyssa, Dre-boy, Kimberly, Alani, Gaby, Nina and Natalia. Dear sister to her 10 siblings and aunt to a host of nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to offer condolences to her family on Saturday July 8, 2017 from 12 pm to 2pm at her former residence. Words of Remembrance 3pm.
