Maryanne Speiser

Maryanne Speiser (nee Cole), age 79, formerly of Juniata, passed away on December 22, 2022. Wife of the late Francis, Jr. Cherished mother of Francis, III (Kim), Maryanne, and John (Kate). Beloved grandmother of Kimberly, Cole and Devon. Dear sister-in-law of Irene Cole and Robert Speiser and predeceased by her brothers Jack, Ed and Jerry. Also survived by her many nieces and nephews.

Maryanne was raised with her brothers in the Port Richmond neighborhood of Philadelphia. Coming from a traditional Irish Catholic family, she was very close to her many cousins and extended family. She was a graduate of Nativity Business School. She married Frank and they raised their family in the Juniata neighborhood of Philadelphia. She was active in the Boy's and Girl's Club and coached her daughter's soccer team. She loved her Markland Street neighbors and was very social, having many friends. She worked for many years as an executive secretary at Progress Lighting and then for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia until her retirement. She was the neighborhood mom, known as Big Mare, and routinely had a house full of kids overnight on the weekends. She loved fashion, jewelry, her high heels and was always dressed to the nines. In her later years, Maryanne cherished spending time with her grandkids to whom she was known as Nan. She was devoted to the Blessed Mother and prayed the rosary every day. She enjoyed cooking programs, crime shows and was a whiz at Jeopardy. She was a fan of QVC from where she shopped regularly. She would order anything from clothing and jewelry to power washers and air fryers! Maryanne thrived on taking care of her family and anyone in need. She was the most generous person, always ready to help while never expecting anything in return. She had a tremendous presence in her family's lives and will be forever missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Thursday December 29, 2022 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at St. Anselm Church, 12670 Dunksferry Rd. Phila. There will be an additional viewing on Friday, December 30, 2022 from 9:45 - 10:45 AM at St. Anselm Church. Funeral Mass 11:00 AM. Rite of Committal Our Lady of Grace Cemetery.
