Kirk C. Alexy, 59, passed away unexpectedly at home on September 5, 2019. He was the beloved son of Patricia Alexy and the late Charles Joseph Alexy, brother of Patricia (Donald) Stoll, Mark, and Eileen (Joseph Burns) Alexy, and uncle of Genevieve (Seth Krueger) Stoll.\nKirk graduated from Archbishop Ryan High School in 1977 and Delaware Valley University with a B.S. in Animal Science in 1981. He spent years working in chemical sales and research labs before returning to school and becoming a pediatric home healthcare nurse. He was also a proud member of the Ocean City Beach Patrol for 25 years and guarded at Fort Lauderdale for a season. In the late 90's, he formed and coached a chapter of the U.S. Masters Swim National at Newtown Athletic Club.\nKirk was an avid athlete and outdoorsman. He was a championship swimmer on the Philadelphia Quartette Club Swim Team as well as at Archbishop Ryan. Kirk took on more challenges as a participant in the first Liberty to Liberty Triathlon--he swam two miles around the Statute of Liberty Area, biked 90 miles from Jersey City to Philadelphia, and ran a 10K to the Liberty Bell--a feat all the more remarkable because it was a hot and humid summer day. He enjoyed the swimming and biking part--the running--not so much! Perhaps the pinnacle of his athletic journey was his completion of the Iron Man in Switzerland in 1997.\nHis nurturing personality translated well into a career as a pediatric home healthcare nurse caring for severely ill children. He loved the sea and enjoyed surfing all year long in Ocean City. Later in life, he became a certified master diver--diving off the coast in Atlantic City as well as Allentown Quarry. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing in Upstate Pennsylvania.\nKirk was a very caring person. He was loyal, kind, and worked hard. We will forever miss him, but he will always be in our hearts. \nRelatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Wednesday from 9:00 to 10:45 AM at Our Lady of Calvary Church, 11024 Knights Road.
