Josephine Sokowski

Josephine Sokowski (nee Winslawski) passed away on April 4, 2024 after a short battle with lymphoma.

Josephine was born in Poland on February 9,1955 and came to the U.S. in 1972. She married Chester Sokowski, Sr. in 1973 and remained married until his death in 1992. Josephine became a U.S. citizen in 1983 and lived in Philadelphia, PA for most of her entire time in the United States. In 1994 Josephine met Robert Franks and was with him until her death. Josephine was a dedicated nursing assistant for 37 years until she retired on February 1, 2024. Josephine had a deep love for animals. She will be deeply missed by her family and good friends.

Josephine is survived by her son, Chester Sokowski, Jr. of Philadelphia , PA, and her daughter, Elizabeth Wayman, husband, Matthew of Orwigsburg, PA. She is also survived by her partner, Robert Franks of Philadelphia, PA; her grandchildren, Justin Joseph Waugh of Fort Washington, PA, Kara and Anna Wayman of Orwigsburg, PA, and Malinda Bryan, husband, Miles, and their son, Miles Jr. as well as several relatives in her native Poland.

In addition to her husband, Chester, Sr., Josephine was preceded in death by her son, Walter Sokowski.

Josephine's services will be held privately.
