Joseph M. Mikula

–

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Joseph M. Mikula, of Philadelphia, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the age of 87, surrounded by his loving family.

Joe loved to entertain, whether it was his family or friends, it was engrained in to him at an early age. When he was young his mother passed away, as a result, he and his brother Al would play street music to earn money. During his younger years he played the accordion, as he got older he switched over to playing the piano and keyboard. Even during his most recent hospital stay, Joe would sing to entertain the residents and staff.

Joe was a hard worker and worked many jobs in order to provide for his family. No matter how busy he was, he always made time for his family. He cherished the time that he was able to spend with his 8 grandchildren and as his family grew, his 14 great-grandchildren. Some of his favorite times were the Holidays when the whole family would be gathered together. He also enjoyed watching the Phillies and playing pinochle with his family.

Joe joined the Navy when he was 17 years old and served for three years. As a veteran, Joe enjoyed going to Navy reunions to see his many navy buddies.

Joe always had time to stop and chat with those around him. In the 80's, he was a volunteer for the Ben Franklin Museum. He would dress as a Printer from the colonial times and show visitors how to use the printing press. He had a compliment for everyone and was available for anyone in their time of need.

Beloved husband of Mary F. (nee Ambrose). Cherished father of Mary A. Mikula, Cindy (Robert) Williams, Laura Mikula and the late Joseph M. Mikula, Jr. Devoted grandfather of Danny (Jess), Jessie (Matthew), Bobby (Andreia), Matthew (Jess), Jacquie (Stephen), Stephanie, Rosalee and Tyler. He was adored by his 14 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Al (MaryAnne) Mikula, the late Rita (Chesley Davis) Colberg, the late Linda and the late Stanley. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
