Joseph Mikula

Joseph "Joey" Mikula, passed away on May 1, 2026, at the age of 59.

Joey, as he was affectionately known by his family and friends, was born in Philadelphia, PA on September 29, 1966. Thirty years ago, Joey traveled to Louisville, Kentucky to work with the horses at the Kentucky Derby. He loved it so much that he made Louisville his permanent home. While living there, he earned his Associate Degree in Nursing.

In his free time, Joey enjoyed gardening, watching Philadelphia sports teams, caring for his animals, and spending time around horses. He was a true animal lover.

Joey is survived by his beloved dog, Gunner; his parents, Joseph M. and Mary F. (nee Ambrose) Mikula; his sisters, Mary Mikula, Cindy Williams, and Laura Mikula; and his uncle and aunt, Al and MaryAnne Mikula.

He was preceded in death by his aunts, Rita and Linda.

Joey will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM at Our Lady of Calvary Church, 11024 Knights Road. Philadelphia, PA, 19154. Joey’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
