Francis Xavier Martin, age 82, of Philadelphia, passed away on Tuesday July 4, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Francis was an amazing example of what you would call a “Family Man”. Everyone that had the privilege of knowing Franny knew what a gentle, generous, and loving human being he truly was. He devoted his entire life to his family. Franny genuinely enjoyed all the precious time spent watching his family grow. Franny got the most joy out of life by spending time with his kids, playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren alongside his wife of 60 years, Sharon. Some would say he even got more joy out of life while spending time with his 2 dogs, Lola and Hazel, who he always referred to as his girlfriends. Franny loved spending Sundays during the fall watching his favorite sports team, the Philadelphia Eagles, and he always would say that he most likely would never see them win a super bowl in his lifetime. Thankfully, the Eagles pulled through for him in 2017 and he got to witness their first Super Bowl win in franchise history.
Franny was extremely patriotic and loved his country. So, it was only fitting that Franny passed on America's 247th birthday. On July 4th, Franny passed on to his next life to be with God and to enjoy eternal life with all his family and friends that are there waiting for him. Franny will take great joy as he now watches over his family as they continue to grow in his honor.
Beloved husband of Sharon (nee Ream). Cherished father of Denise (John Miehle) Martin, Sharon DiEgidio and Dana Davenport. Devoted grandfather of the late Brian, Joseph (Julie), Isabella, Emma, John, the late Nikki, Carlye (Nick), Angelo, Brittney, Bailey, Dakota and Raelyn. Loving great-grandfather of Brian, Jaden, Harvey and Ryder. Dear brother of Edward (Carol), Kathleen (the late Chick), HonHon (the late Danny), Gene (Donna), Susan, the late Dolores (George), the late Betty and the late Nancy (the late Jimmy). Franny will be missed by his faithful companions Lola and Hazel.
